Also called Triarrhena lutarioriparia, this giant grass species originates from China and can grow up to seven meters high. It resembles bamboo and the stems colour purple. A root barrier is advised for this plant. During winter it loses all above ground parts and starts growing very early in spring with enormous a growth speed. It tolerates heavy frosts of up to -20°C.
These plants drop their leaves in winter. If you order a plant during winter, expect to get a plant without leaves. During summer the plants are cut to make them fit in the box for shipping.
