The Phoenix roebelenii is also called the dwarf date palm because all plant parts are smaller compared to other species in the genus. It originates alongside the Mekong river in Thailand, Laos and China where it can even grow in fast flowing rapids. It is a highly ornamental palm and suited as an indoor palm.
