Sabal minor

The Sabal minor originates from the southeast of the U.S. to the north of Mexico, where it grows in warm humid forests and swamps. Because the main part of the trunk is underneath ground level this palms stays small to a maximum of 3 meters. The leaves are costapalmate and have a greenblue colour. Sabal minor is very cold hardy to about -20˚C. Growth is relatively slow but is best when placed in a moist and shady position in organic rich soils. This palm is perfect for filling empty spots underneath larger palms.
