Blechnum gibbum (syn. Oceaniopteris gibba) is a small tree fern from New Caledonia. It can produce a slim trunk that can grow to 1,5 meters tall with green leaves giving it a very tropical look, resembling a miniature palm tree. It should be kept moist at all times as any fern, however it is surprisingly tolerant for drought and sunlight for a fern. It can survive only light frost. We keep this fern planted in the open soil in our garden and dig it up before every winter to be overwintered in a cool frost fee place. A must have for the tropical garden.
