This Sabal originates from the Dominican Republic, Haiti and Cuba. It is found from sea level up to 1000 meters altitude. It is a much larger palm compared to Sabal palmetto. It is a large palm with a massive trunk. Leaves are costapalmate. It tolerates light to moderate frost (-6˚C).
