The Washingtonia filifera comes from California and distinguishes from Washingtonia robusta by having a thicker trunk and greener petioles with only tiny thorns. It is a fast growing palm and tolerates moderate frosts up to -10˚C. In cooler climates it grows slower then Washingtonia robusta.
