Colocasia is also called elephant ear because of the shape and size of the leaves. It is a plant that has to be kept moist and the leaves will grow the largest when in is kept in a shady spot. Special about this plant is that the leaves cannot become wet because there are microscopic hears on the leaves that prevent the surface tension to break so droplets just roll off the leaves. The Pink China form is the most tolerant of frost and can handle up to -15°C.
