This climber is related to the orchid tree (Bauhinia) and has similar white and pink flowers. It is still very rarely cultivated in northern western Europe but it has the potential to become very popular. It originates from south-east China where it occurs up to 2000 meters altitude. It should be cold tolerant up to -12°C.
