The Chamaerops humilis or also called the European dwarf palm originates from the Mediterranean in Spain, Southern-France, Italy and in parts of Northern-Africa. This palm is clustering so it forms multiple trunks. In nature these palms usually stay small and do not form a trunk, however in cultivation with sufficient water the trunks can reach several meters in height after many years. Chamaerops humilis is a very easy palm, it can be kept in a container or planted out. It has a good tolerance to frost (-12°C) and because of it's relative small size can easily be protected to heavy frost.
