This robust variety of Sabal minor originates from the swamps of Louisiana. This variety can in contrary to other minor varieties produce a several meters high above ground trunk. As with many Sabal species growth is slow, however it is a palm that will grow steadily on a wet and shady location. It tolerates medium to heavy frost to about -15°C.
