Serenoa repens is a relatively small palm species from the southeast of the US. It grows from Louisiana to South Carolina. This clustering palm produces horizontal trunks and covers the undergrounds. Because the palm renews itself by producing new shoots it can become very old. It is estimated that some individuals are more then 700 years old. The Georgia Silver is the northern- and most inland form of Serenoa and because of this it is probably the most cold tolerant form of the genus. All organs of the palm are smaller and the leaves are stiff and silver.
